London-born and educated at Brampton Manor Academy in East Ham, Poleon started his football career as a youth team player at Chelsea before leaving to join the Southend United Academy, before deciding to join the Leeds United Academy as a first year Apprentice before the 2010-11 season. He played regularly for the Juniors and was given good reviews. He signed his first one year contract with Leeds in July 2012, after being the leading goalscorer for the Youth team with twelve goals in the 2011-12 season. After initially being part of the "Junior" team in the pre-season fixtures before the 2012-13 season, but after coming on as a late substitute for Simon Lenighan in the friendly with Farsley AFC, on 20th July 2012, he was taken on the club's tour of Devon and Cornwall. He was a sixty-eighth minute substitute for Paul Green against Tavistock three days later, and scored four minutes before time, then played the final nine minutes against Bodmin Town on 25th July 2012. He came on as a sixty-fifth minute replacement for Ross McCormack at Torquay United, two days later. He went on the Norwegian trip and again replaced Ross McCormack, in the sixty-eighth minute, in the only game of the trip, against Sandefjord on 1st August 2012. He also came on as a substitute for Paul Green, with nine minutes to go in the friendly at Deepdale against Preston North End, three days later. He missed the final friendly with Burton Albion but was included in the Leeds sixteen for the opening fixture. He was allocated the No. 26 Shirt in the Leeds squad. He made his first team debut for Leeds as a seventy-sixth minute substitute for Paul Green in the 4-1 win in the League Cup win over Shrewsbury Town at Elland Road on 11th August 2012. His League debut came as a seventy-ninth minute substitute for Ross McCormack in the away game against Peterborough United on 25th August 2012. He was a seventy-sixth minute substitute for El-Hadji Diouf in the home League Cup tie with Oxford United on 28th August 2012 and two further substitute appearances, for seven minutes when he came on for Luke Varney at Cardiff City on 15th September and an almost half-hour replacement for Luciano Becchio in the home game with Hull City three days later, before he was given his starting debut in the League at home to Nottingham Forest on 22nd September 2012. He scored the Leeds second goal in the twenty-sixth minute to make it a scoring debut with his first goal for Leeds, before being substituted by Aidan White in the sixty-sixth minute. There were four games in which he sat unused on the bench before Neil Warnock brought in Ryan Hall and Poleon was loaned to Bury, along with Zac Thompson, for a month, on 15th October 2012 to get valuable game time. He made his Gigg Lane debut the following day in a 1-1 home draw with Carlisle United. Poleon scored his first goal for Bury in the seventy-fourth minute of his second game in a 1-2 defeat at Yeovil Town on 20th October . His second goal came a week later in the 1-1 home draw with Walsall. On 19th November, his loan spell was extended to 3rd January 2013, but the following day he was recalled by Leeds due to suspensions and injuries. He had scored twice in seven League starts and had made one start in the F.A. Cup. He came on as a seventy fifth minute substitute for Jerome Thomas in the 2-1 home win against Crystal Palace on 24th November 2013, but was replaced by Michael Brown in the final minute as Leeds went on the defensive. On 18th January 2013, Poleon signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with Leeds. On 12th February he was loaned to Sheffield United for the rest of the season. He made his Bramall Lane debut as a fifty-eighth minute substitute in a 3-0 home win over Colchester United and his starting debut came on 26th February in a 0-0 home draw with Leyton Orient. He had made three starts and four substitute appearances without scoring when he was recalled to Elland Road by Neil Redfearn on 3rd April 2013. After sitting unused in the games against Charlton Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion he was called into action after ten minutes of United's final match of the season at Watford on 4th May 2013, when Steve Morison was injured. He scored the first Leeds goal in the forty-second minute. Poleon was involved in a controversial collision in the game, in which he appeared to intentionally push the Watford defender, Ikechi Anya, which caused him to collide with his goalkeeper, Jonathan Bond, for which Poleon was given a yellow card. The collision saw the goalkeeper stretchered from the field, unconscious and with a suspected broken nose. He claimed he had no intention to cause any injury to anyone. He was in the squad for the pre-season games to the 2013-14 season and after starting in the first friendly at Farsley AFC he scored the opening goal after four minutes in a 5-0 win. He came on as a second half substitute in the first game of the Slovenian tour and scored in the sixtieth minute of a 3-1 win over Pomerje XI. He was again on target after half-an-hour in the second game as they went down 1-2 to FC Demzale. He played the last haf-hour of the third game in which Leeds were defeated 0-1 by Ferencvaros. He came on as a second half substitute for Matt Smith in the 0-1 defeat at Walsall on 20th July, and played a full game at Stevenage Borough in a 3-0 win three days later. He started the final game at home to FC Nurnberg on 27th July, but came off for Matt Smith after seventy-five minutes. He scored in his first start of the season with the winning goal after thirty-one minutes in the League Cup in a 2-1 home win over Chesterfield on 7th August 2013. He went on to score once in the League, the winner ten minutes from time in a 2-1 win over Bournemouth on 1st October 2013, from two starts and seventeen games from the bench and one goal in three starts in the League Cup and no goals from one game from the bench in the F.A. Cup. This brought his total to three goals in three League starts and twenty-two as a substitute and one goal from three starts and two as a substitute in the League Cup and no goals in one substitute appearance in the F.A. Cup at the end of the 2013-14 season. He was again to the fore in the pre-season friendlies, with two goals in the 16-0 romp against FC Gherdeina and one five minutes from time in the 2-0 home win over Dundee United. He seemed set for another season of ten-fifteen minutes from the benchas as this was the case in United's first six games, two in the League Cup and four in the League. However it came as a shock to the player and the fans when he was sold to Oldham Athletic for £100,000 on a two year contract on 1st September 2014, the final day of the transfer window. He made his Oldham Athletic debut in 6th September 2014 in a 1-0 home win over Fleetwood Town. It was not until 7th October 2014 that he opened his scoring record with a goal in the twenty-second minute in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy game at home to Barnsley. His second also came in the same competition, in the forty-sixth minute of the home game with Preston North End on 25th November 2014. He had to wait until 24th January 2015 before he registered his first League goal in the twenty-third minute of a 2-3 loss at Gillingham. Goals were proving hard to come by but towards the end of the season he found form with two goals in the 2-2 home draw with Sheffield United, with goals in the twenty-second and forty-third minutes and then one more in the final game of the season, when he found the net in the ninth minute of a 1-1 home draw with Peterborough United on 3rd May 2015 to take his tally to four in the League and two in the Football League Trophy, having started twenty-ne games, with another fourteen from the bench, in the League, one start and one game as a substitute in the F.A. Cup together with the two goals in two starts in the Football League Trophy.
