Although he was born in the Capital of Honduras Nunez moved to the U.S.A. in the early 1990's when his family settled in Dallas where he was educated and first played football at the Southern Methodist University in 2003. He join the local team Dallas Burn in 2004, but failed to gain a regular spot. However time was on his side and he gain some experience as a substitute in eight games in which he managed over one hundred minutes playing time, in his first season. He forced his way into contention, but lost his place towards the end of that season. He managed fourteen goals in sixty-seven games as he played in central midfield but showed an appetite for goals when given the chance. He also received recognition, in 2005, at International level playing for Honduras Under-Twenty team in the World Youth Cup in the Netherlands and scored once in nine appearances. This led to him being called up for the Honduran full International squad in October 2006 and he made his International debut, as a substitute on 9th September 2007 against Costa Rica. He made his second and third appearances the same month in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers. In August 2007 he had been transferred to another MLS team, Chivas USA and played eight times, without scoring, before he was given a free transfer at the end of the season. He returned to his native country and joined Deportivo Olimpia, where he operated mainly in midfield and scored three times in thirty-four appearances. His form with Olimpia and the national team saw him go on a six month's loan to Mexican First Division side Puebla. He made a scoring debut on 18th February 2009 and finished up scoring five times in twenty appearances. He moved to another Mexican team, Cruz Azul, but failed to score in eleven appearances and left the club at the end of the 2009/10 season. Nunez became a hero of Honduran football on 6th September 2008 when he scored twice against Canada, to turn a 1-0 defeat into a 2-1 victory and then on 10th September he again scored in a 2-0 victory over Jamaica. After scoring three times in thirteen Under Twenty-three internationals, he has presently scored five times in forty-four appearances for the Full National team. In the World Cup in South Africa he played in all three of Honduras' games, starting two and appearing as a substitute in the other. In August 2010, he joined Leeds United on trial. He scored in his first game for the club in a pre-season friendly victory against Non-League Bradford Park Avenue. After impressing Manager Simon Grayson during his initial trial period, it was extended by a further week. After a one month trial period, on 31 August 2010, the twenty-four year old signed a professional contract with Leeds United until January 2011 and was granted the necessary work permit. He played a full game in a "behind closed doors" friendly with Middlesbrough to help with his match fitness and he scored one and set up one for Mike Grella in an impressive display in a 3-1 win. He sat on the bench for tree games at home to Preston North End, at Ipswich Town and at home to Leicester City before coming from the bench in the fifty-fourth minute to replace Davide Somma at home to Cardiff City and then seven minutes before time to replace Robert Snodgrass at Scunthorpe United in the space of six games which finished in October. Despite not being in the first team squad, Manager Simon Grayson seemed happy with his performances and on 12th January 2011 he took up the option and extended his contract to the end of the season, with a further one ear's option. Other than those associations with the first team he had to be content with Reserve team football but there he could show his talents and the highlight of the season was when he scored all four goals in a 4-1 win over Lincoln City Reserves on 7th March 2011. While he had to be content with Reserve team football at Leeds he was still a regular with his native country, Honduras, at full International level and he won the prestigeous "Most Valuable Player Award" at the Copa Centro Americana Tournament in Panama in January 2011 in which he scored the Honduras goal in a 1-1 draw with Costa Rica on 14th January 2011 and the opening goal of the game in a 3-1 win over Guatemala four days later. He was loaned out to Scunthorpe United to gain first team experience from 24th March 2011 until the end of the season and in a successful stint he scored three goals in eight League starts. On 9th May 2011 his contract was extended by a further year. He was very impressive in the club's pre-season games before the 2011-12 season, scoring the equalizer against Sandefjord in Norway. He came on as a sixty-second minute substitute for Ross McCormack in United's opening League fixture at Southampton on 6th August 2011. He was given his starting debut in the next match, a League Cup tie with Bradford City at Elland Road three days later and scored his first senior goals with Leeds as he got one in the forty-sixth minute to equalize and then got the winner in the seventy-fifth minute in a 3-2 win. He was back on the bench for the second League fixture of the season, but he replaced Michael Brown in the fifty-sixth minute of the home game with Middlesbrough on 13th August 2011. He made his starting League debut in the next fixture in the home game with Hull City, three days later and he scored the fourth goal in the sixty-ninth minute in a 4-1 win, before being replaced by Lloyd Sam in the seventy-ninth minute. His good form was maintained as well as his liking for the League Cup, when he scored two more, the equalizer in the thirtieth and the winner in the eighty-first minute, in the 2-1 win at Doncaster Rovers on 23rd August 2011. He then gave way to the returning Max Gradel and was a ninety minute substitute for Robert Snodgrass at Ipswich Town, but was reinstalled for the home 3-2 win over Crystal Palace, in which he was replaced by Luciano Becchio in the fifty-eighth minute. He was in the starting eleven for the home game with Bristol City, but was again replaced by Luciano Becchio in the fifty-eighth minute. He was on the bench for the home League Cup tie with Manchester United but replaced Ross McCormack, after sixty-six minutes. His fine performances were rewarded with a new four year contract on 11th October 2011, which took him to 2015 with an option for a further year. However he found it hard to gain a regular spot in the Leeds squad and at the end of the season new Manager Neil Warnock placed him on the transfer list in May 2012. Nunez was no allocated a shirt number for the 2012-13 season. On 3rd September 2012, in a Leeds United Development Squad win over Wigan Athletic, Nunez suffered a cruciate ligament injury which would rule him out of football for the rest of the season and thereby hinder his chances of attracting the attention of other clubs. On 29th January 2013 his contract with Leeds was terminated by mutual consent. He signed with FC Dallas on 21st March 2013. He was an unused substitute for Dallas in a dozen games in the MLS before he came on as an eighty-fifth minute substitute on 1st June 2013 against Columbus Crew. He then had another game unused on the bench before coming on for sixteen minutes against Sporting Kansas City, on 22nd June 2013. He then had another game unused before playing twenty-six minutes against Chivas on 4th July and twenty-seven minutes against LA Galaxy three days later. He then play the whole of the second half in the next two games against Real Salt Lake on 13th July and Montreal Impact on 20th July. There were 17 minutes on 17th August 2013 at Portland Timbers, eight minutes four days later at Chivas when he managed to find the net in the final minute for his only goal of the season and three days later there were nineteen minutes San Jose Earthquakes and finally he was a half-time substitution at Chicago Fire for ten appearances, all as a substitute. He joined Costa Rican top club LD Alajuelense, but here too he was restricted to mostly games on the bench coming on on 29th August 2014 as an eighty-third minute substitute for Alvaro Sanchez in a 1-0 home win over FC Chorrillo, followed on 18th September 2014 by replacing Allen Guevara with seven minutes left on the clock in a 2-2 home draw with Belen Siglo XXI and on 13th October 2014 he had more time, as a seventy-first minute replacement for Allen Guevara in a 3-0 home win against Uruaguy, before finally starting six days later in a 2-1 home win over Perez Zeledon, when he was replaced after seventy-nine minutes by Poririo Lopez, making one start and five from the bench in the Primera Sivision and one game from the bench in the CONCACAF Champions League before leaving for Real Club Deportivo Espana, San Pedro Sula, in his native Honduras on a free transfer on 2nd February 2015. He he scored twice in starting eight League games in his first season and came from the bench in five games and also sat unused on seven occasions. By mid-October 2015 he had added one goal to his tally in the 2015-16 season, having started seven and come from the bench in three further games, being unused on four other occasions.
