"Having started his football at St Paul’s School in his native Bristol Livingstone moved into the St Paul's side that played in the Bristol League, before joining St Francis in the same competition. In 1935 he joined Bristol Rovers, moving across the City to Ashton Gate in 1936. He joined Weymouth in 1938, as a winger, scoring seven goals in twenty-nine appearances before leaving the club in May 1939. During the Second World War, when he was in the RAF, he made a number of guest appearances for Leeds United and represented the United Services." (Information kindly provided by Mr Nigel Biddlecombe (Weymouth Football Club) . With Leeds he played the first two games of the 1941-42 Football League Northern Section (First Championship), on 30th August 1941 he made his debut in a 2-0 win over York City and the following weekend he played in the reverse fixture as Leeds went down 0-1 at Bootham Crescent. "In the Yorkshire Evening Post of day before the first game it said A. Livingstone of Weymouth. He was a regular scorer for Weymouth throughout the 1938-39 season. For the second game, the Friday edition of both the Yorkshire Evening Post and the Yorkshire Evening News said it was A. Livingstone of Weymouth that would play the next day. (Information kindly supplied by Neil Roche). It is not thought that Livingstone played professionally in the Football League, after the Second World War.
