Little is known about Harry Howitt, who only played four games for Leeds United. It is believed that he played with Armley Christ Church in the local Leeds League. His debut was at Outside Right in the game with Huddersfield Town at Leeds Road in a 1-1 draw in the 1940-41 North Regional League and he also played in the next fixture with Rotherham United in a 0-0 draw at Millmoor. He missed one game before playing his third game in a 0-3 defeat to Barnsley at Oakwell but his final game two weeks later saw United rattle in six without reply against Bradford City at Elland Road. It is not thought that Howitt played professionally in the Football League.
