Debut: Stoke City: 05-08-2018

5' 10" 10st 1lb (2018)

Pollok born, he attended Lourdes Secondary School and then joined the Livingston FC Juniors in the summer of 2006, however the club thought he was too small to make the grade and released him before he had the chance to turn professional. Undeterred, he worked a a refrigeration engineer and then joined Queens Park FC and proved them wrong as the Hampden Park Club signed him on professional forms in July 2008. He soon featured in the first team, making his debut when he started and played a full game on 26th July 2008 in a 1-2 defeat by Partick Thistle at Firhill in the First Round of the Challenge Cup. His League debut came on 2nd August 2008 in a 2-2 home draw with Stranraer in the Second Division. He then played another full game in the Scottish League Cup First Round as they were beaten 1-4 by Clyde at Broadwood Stadium on 5th August 2008. His first goal came at home to Brechin City on 23rd August 2008. His second came in a 1-1 home draw with Stranraer on 31st January 2009.He also played four games in the Scottish F.A. Cup and had a hand in the first goal in the 2-1 win over Albion Rovers at the Reigart Stadium on 29th November 2008 in the Third Round before also playing full games in the Fourth Round tie and replay in which they held Peterhead FC to a 2-2 draw at Balmoor Stadium on 10th January 2009 and then the 1-0 win in the replay ten days later at Hampden, before being eliminated 1-2 by Celtic at Parkhead on 7th February 2009. He started thirty League games and three games in the playoff finals. In the 2009-10 season he had one full game in the Scottish League Challenge Cup, as they were beaten 0-2 at Annan on 25th July 2009 and then in Scottish League Cup as Queens Park were easily beaten 1-4 at Hampden by Queen of the South on 1st August 2009. The latter was notable as it was Douglas that scored the consolation goal after eighty-two minutes to register his first goal of the season. He started thirty-five Division Three games and also played twice in other games both in the Scottish League One play-offs, when he played full games as Arbroath took the home leg at Hampden 0-4 on 5th May 2010 and even though they held Arbroath 2-2 at Gayfield Park three days later, and Douglas set up both the visitors goals, it was not good enough. He also scored eight League goals, the first in the nineteenth minute, being the only goal in a 1-0 win at Elgin City on 15th August 2009. The second was the opening goal in the thirty-sixth minute in a 1-2 loss at Livingston on 26th September 2009. The Third was again the opener in the thirty-sixth minute in a 1-2 home defeat by Stranraer on 10th October 2009. He again opened the scoring, this time in the sixty-third minute of a 2-0 home win over Berwick Rangers on 16th January 2010. His fifth came a week later in a 3-2 home win over Annan, when he netted the winner from the penalty spot in the seventy-fifth minute. The sixth came on 20th February 2010 in a 1-3 home defeat by Forfar Athletic, when he equalised to make it 1-1 after sixty-four minutes. The seventh was also from the penalty spot and it opened the scoring in the twenty-third minute in a 3-0 home win over Montrose FC on 3rd April 2010. The eighth came on 20th April 2010 and was the only goal of the game, four minutes from time in the home game with Albion Rovers. Unsurprisingly, after he had played regularly for the Queens Park first team, there was enough interest in his progress to prompt Dundee United to sign the twenty-year-old on a three year contract on 21st June 2010. The highly-rated left back was said to have aroused interest from clubs in the English Championship as well as the Scottish Premiership, after he scored eight League goals in the 2009-10 season and won several player of the year awards at the club. While at Queens Park he had scored ten goals in sixty-five League starts, four Scottish F.A. Cup starts, scored once in two starts in the Scottish League Cup and started three five League play-off games. He did not go immediately into the starting team but was on the bench in the first game of the season on 14th August 2010 on the visit to St Mirren FC that ended in a 1-1 draw. Next up was the Europa League Qualifying Round 1st leg five days later when AEK Athens won 0-1 at Tannadice and again he remained on the bench. He was again on the bench three days later when Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC were the visitors and he went on as a fifty-seventh minute replacement for Craig Conway as the visitors went away with a 0-4 win. Four days later he was back on the bench as United held AEK to a 1-1 draw in Athens, which was not enough to keep them in the competition. Three days later, he started at left-back in the visit to Tynecastle and played a full game as United held Heart of Midlothian to a 1-1 draw. He maintained his place and played another full game on 11th September 2010in a 3-1 home win over Aberdeen. A week later he started in a 0-4 loss at Ibrox as Rangers were too good and he was replaced by Johnny Russell after fifty-five minutes. Celtic at Tannadice followed but they left with a 1-2 win as Douglas only played four minutes as a replacement for David Robertson on 17th October 2010. He eventually started to cement his place in the starting eleven and in the League he started nineteen and was a substitute on four occasions byr also was unused on the bench in twelve games. He also scored twice, the first being the opener and coming in the sixth minute of a 1-2 defeat at Heart of Midlothian on 19th February 2011 and the other again opened the scoring in the twenty-ninth minute of a 3-1 home win over Aberdeen on 7th March 2011. As already mentioned he was twice unused in the Europa League, while he came on once as a substitute in the Scottish League Cup and started twice, was a substitute twice and unused on the bench once in the Scottish F.A. Cup, and although he did nor score in any of those competitions he did score his penalty to make it 3-3 in the penalty shoot-out in the Fourth Round replay at Ross County on 18th January 2011. In his second season at Tannadice Park he failed to become a regular as he often played second fiddle to Paul Dixon. In the League he scored once when he got the opening goal in the second minute of a 3-3 draw at St Johnstone on 27th August 2011 for his only goal of the season, in which started five, and came on as a substitute in five and was unused on the bench in twenty-seven games. He also started one and was once an unused substitute in one Europa League Qualifying game, was once a substitute in the Scottish F.A. Cup and started twice in the Scottish League Cup. In the 2012-13 season he was much more of a regular, starting twenty-seven Scottish League Premiership games, was a substitute once and sat on the bench unused four times. He scored one goal in the season and that was on 30th December 2012 when he scored in the final minute as United were defeated 3-4 at home by St Mirren on 30th December 2012 in the League. He also started four times in the Scottish F.A. Cup and twice in the Europa League Qualifying games. On 28th May 2013 Douglas moved to Lech Poznan. His contract with Dundee United had expired and they were unable to match the conditions offered by the top-flight Polish League side and so he agreed a two year contract with an option of a one year extension. He was out of contract in June 2013 and available on a free transfer to clubs outside Scotland. In his three seasons at Tanadice he had scored four Scottish League goals from fifty-one starts and nine games from the bench. He also had started six Scottish F.A. Cup ties and come off the bench three times, while starting twice and being a substitute once in the Scottish League Cup and also starting three Europa League games. He did not get off to the best start with his new Polish club. Picking up an injury on his very first day of training. This put him out of action for three months. Following that thigh strain, he then managed to play a few games, before he was ruled ot for five months with an ankle injury sustained against Legia Warsaw. Having missed the four Europa League qualifiers in July and August and the first nine League games, it was not until 29th September 2013 that he started in the 1-0 home win over Widzew Lodz and he played a full game on debut. He went on to start sixteen Lotto Ekstraklasa League games, play two games as a substitute and be unused on the bench twice, and also play one full game in the Polish Cup before his season was brought to an end when, although he played a full game, his ankle injury sustained sidelined him for the rest of the season after the 1-0 loss away to Legia Warszawa on 29th March 2014. In the 2014-15 season he missed a few games as he regained fitness after his ankle injury, but he came on to replace Replaced Gergo Lovrencsics, three minutes before time on 31st July 2014 in a Europa League Qualifier in a 0-1 away defeat by UMF Stjarnan Gardabaer. He was then off to a flying start in the Lotto Ekstraklasa League when he scored in his first game, in which he played the full ninety minutes, scoring in the eighty-third minute to make the score 2-2, in a home 2-3 defeat by Wisla Krakow. He went on to score twice more in the League with opening goals in the eighty-sixth minute of a 2-0 home win over Jagiellonia Bialystok on 6th March 2015 and in the sixty-sixth minute of a 2-1 home win over Legia Warszawa on 22nd March 2015. He started twenty-one games, was a substitute on six occasions and also sat unused on the bench five times in the Lotto Ekstraklasa, which Lech Poznan won for the seventh time that season, had just the one substitute appearance in the Europa League Qualifier and started four, was a substitute in one in the Polish Cup, in which they were beaten finalists as Legia Warszawa prevailed 1-2 in the final, and he was dsmised for a second yellow card two minutes from time. He also scored in the one hundred and twelfth minute to make the score 3-2 as they defeated Jagiellonia Bialystok 4-2, after extra-time on 30th October 2014. In his third season in Poland in 2015-16, he remained until the winter break at the end of December 2015 before being transferred to Turkish top-flight side, Torku Konyaspor, signing a three and a half-year contract for £175,000. In his final season at Lech Poznan he was affected by a hand injury in August and prior to that in July and early August he had started four UEFA Champions League Qualifying games and had scored the only goal as FK Sarajevo were defeated on 22nd July 2015 as he scored in the fifth minute. He also started two Europa League Qualifying games and then started one and was on the bench in four Europa League games. In the Lotto Ekstraklasa League he started thirteen, and was unused on the bench in four, while in the Polish Cup he started twice and was unused on the bench once. In the Superpuchar Polski on 10th July 2015 Lech Poznan beat Legia Warszawa 3-1 to lift the trophy with Douglas playing a full game. In the almost three seasons he spent with Lech Poznan he started fifty League games and came of the bench eight times to score three goals in the Lotto Ekstraklasa League, Seven starts and one game from the bench and one goal in the Polish Cup, one start in Superchar Polski, four starts and one goal in UEFA Champions League Qualifying games, one start in the Europa League games, and two starts and one game as a substitute in Europa League Qualifying games. He soon established himself at Konyaspor, making his debut in the Turkish Cupwhen he started in the 2-1 home win over Etimesgut Belediyespor on 26th January 2016, in which he was replaced on the hour by Jagos Vukovic. His League debut came on 6th February 2016 in a 0-0 away draw with Galatasaray SK in which he played a full game. On 28th July 2018, surprisingly he was signed by Leeds United due to his abilty to score and provide assists at the Championship level, having scored five goals and provided fourteen assists in the Wolverhampton promotion year that took them back to the EPL. He signed a three year contract and the fee was said to be in the region of £3million, but could rise to £5 million if all things come to fruition.
