Morgan was signed by his local club Everton in 1903, but he never made a first team appearance at Goodison Park, however, he gained valuable experience in their Central League side. He joined Southern League Tottenham Hotspur in May 1904 for the 1904-05 season, but broke his jaw in a pre-season game and spent most of his time at White Hart Lane in the reserves. He then signed for Second Division Leeds City in July 1905. Leeds had just been elected to the Football League and Morgan took his place for their first-ever League game at Valley Parade. He soon became one of City’s most consistent and reliable players in their initial season, missing only three games. He was unable to command a regular spot when Fred Hargraves was switched to Right Half in the second season and in August 1909 he joined Second Division Bradford Park Avenue. He only managed one League game before moving to Non-League Halifax Town where he finished his career.
