Little is known about Reg Stanton, but he was thought to have been on the books of West Ham United as an amateur at the time of his playing for Leeds and was referred to as such in the newspapers and programmes of the time. However, he did not make any appearances for the Hammers in his time with them. He played the first three games for Leeds United in the 1941-42 Football League Northern Section First Championship. He was at Right Half for the first game of the campaign as Leeds won 2-0 at Elland Road against York City on 30th August 1941. He kept his position for the next two games in a 0-1 defeat at Bootham Crescent in the reverse fixture and at Gateshead in a 2-3 defeat. It is not thought that Stanton played professionally in the Football League, but he did play for Tilbury F.C., in the London League, after the war.(personal details etc, courtesy Neil Roche).
