He was a guest with Leeds United in the 1945-46 Football League Northern Section but played just two games at Left Back. He made his debut at Turf Moor in a 3-2 win over Burnley on 10th November 1945 and retained his position in the next game in a 3-3 draw at Elland Road with Manchester United. He also guested for Notts County, for whom he played once in each of the 1943-44 and 1944-45 seasons, Hull City, once in 1944-45 and Walsall, once in 1945-46. After the Second World War Skidmore joined Third Division South Walsall in May 1946 and gave them good service for five seasons, scoring ten goals, including seven penalties, in ninety-nine League appearances and also scored once in eight F.A. Cup games before retiring from League football in 1951. He then returned to his native Yorkshire, where he played Non_League football for Frickley Colliery until he retired from football in 1962. He died in 2004.
