War Skidmore joined Third Division South Walsall in May 1946 and gave them good service for
five seasons, scoring ten goals, including seven penalties, in ninety-nine League appearances
and also scored once in eight F.A. Cup games before retiring from League football in 1951. He
then returned to his native Yorkshire, where he played Non_League football for Frickley
Colliery until he retired from football in 1962. He died in 2004.
