Little is known about Walter McKellor. It is believed that he was on the books of Huddersfield Town during the Second World War. He only played one game for Leeds United, at Centre Forward on 4th December 1943 in the 1943-44 Football League Northern Section (First Championship) 1-2 defeat at Elland Road against Halifax Town. However he did play for several local clubs in the War Years. Mainly with his own club, Huddersfield Town, where he had just one game in 1939-40, without scoring but then scored twice in six games in 1940-41, once in five games in 1941-42 and once in two games in 1942-43. He had more with Bradford City, scoring three times in thirteen games in 1940-41, three games in 1941-42, one in 1942-43 and one in 1943-44, without scoring. He also had one game without scoring for Bradford Park Avenue in 1942-43 and two goals in nine games for Halifax Town in 1941-42."It is believed that he was born in the second quarter of 1919, near Dewsbury. He played in local league football with Hartshead Parish Church and was signed by Ossett Town in November 1937. He signed amateur forms with Huddersfield Town in late October 1938 on a one month trial, and was signed as a part-time professional at the end of November 1938, following a successful series of appearances in the Central League. It is not known what happened to him after the war." (Information kindly supplied by Neil Roche). It is not thought that McKellor played professionally in the Football League, after the Second World War.
