Maddison: R.

WW2 Guest: 1941-1942 (Leeds United War-time Guest Player Details)

Left Half

Born: Unknown: Unknown

Debut: v Sunderland (a): 04-10-1941

Height & Weight: Unknown

Very little is known about Maddison, who appears to have been associated with Bishop Auckland and during the Second World War he played one game as a guest for Leeds United. The game was at Left Half in the 1941-42 Football League Northern Section (First Championship) at Roker Park on 4th October 1941, when United were beaten by Sunderland 1-6. "There was an R. Maddison who had a trial as a Centre-Half for Leeds United in the pre-season of 1941 and he was said to have hailed from Bishop Auckland. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that Leeds could have been lacking a defender, as Maddison was not named in the initial team for the game, and he was picked up en-route to Sunderland from his home town". (Information kindly provided by Neil Roche). It is not thought that Maddison played any games in the Football League.
