A strong combative midfielder, Livermore was a noted middle-distance athlete in his youth, a County championship winner in the 1,500 metres and cross country champion of the South-East in 2000. He made fifteen appearances for the Under-Eighteen team as a schoolboy in 2005-06 before joining the Tottenham Hotspur Academy full-time in 2006-07. He scored nine goals in thirty-nine appearances for the Under-Eighteen team and made another thirteen appearances for the Reserves. In July 2007, he made his debut with the first team in a friendly match against Stevenage Borough. On 29th February 2009, he was loaned to Milton Keynes Dons, for a month, making five substitute appearances. He next joined Crewe Alexandra on a six months loan on 11th July 2008. Unfortunately, he broke his leg in a pre-season Friendly with Wrexham and never played for Crewe in the Football League as he was forced to return to White Hart Lane to recuperate. Consequently he managed only ten games in the Reserves and Under-Eighteen in 2008-09. The following season, 2009-10, saw him called up to the first-team squad in the pre-season games and on 24th July 2009, was awarded a contract extension to 2011. He celebrated that by scoring the equaliser against Barcelona in a pre-season friendly at Wembley Stadium. On 10th August 2009 he was loaned to Derby County for a month, which was later extended to the end of the calendar year. He scored one goal, his first in the Football League, against Nottingham Forest on 29th August 2009, in a 3-2 defeat at the City Ground and made eleven starts and five substitute appearances in his stay at Pride Park. On his return to White Hart Lane he was almost immediately loaned to Peterborough United on 12th January 2010 supposedly for the rest of the season. He was soon on the scoresheet, scoring in Peterborough's 2-1 defeat at Hillsborough by Sheffield Wednesday on 23rd January 2010. He made nine appearances for the Posh before a spate of injuries forced Spurs to recall him to White Hart Lane. This turn of events resulted in Livermore being given his chance as a late substitute in the 2-1 away victory at Stoke City on 20th March 2010. He made his run-on Spurs debut when he played the first half of a Third Round League Cup tie against Arsenal at White Hart Lane on 21st September 2010, which the Gunners won 4-1 after extra-time. On 23rd September 2010, he was loaned to Ipswich Town until 5th January 2011, which saw him play twelve games for the Portman Road team, of which four were from the bench. On 24th March 2011 he joined Leeds United for the rest of the season. He had a good debut, coming on as a seventy-sixth minute substitute and setting up Max Gradel for the fourth goal in a fine 4-1 win over Nottingham Forest. It was hoped that he and Barry Bannan would strengthen the Leeds squad in the final eight games as they pushed towards what they hoped would be promotion and steps had already been taken for them to be available if the play-offs became a reality. He was given a starting spot in the side, making his run-on debut at the Den on 9th April 2011 and played in two vital games at Millwall and Derby County, both of which were lost. He was substituted in the eighty-second minute in the first game and after sixty-three minutes in the second. He was dropped to the bench and did not get on the field for the 2-2 draw at home to Watford. He was recalled for the next vital fixture against Reading at Elland Road, but he was substituted at half-time after he had received a yellow card and was then lucky to be on the field after a crude tackle as half-time approached. He was again substituted at half time in his fourth and final start for United, as Leeds gained just two points from twelve in the games he started. He was just a good player in the wrong team at the wrong time. This was borne out when he returned to Tottenham for the 2011-12 season and featured in thirteen of their first seventeen matches in all competitions, scoring his first Spurs goal on the 18th August 2011 in a 5-0 Europa Cup win over Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle. By the end of the 2011-12 season he had started seven League games and been substitute in eighteen, while in the F.A. Cup he had started four and been a substitute once, started two games in the League Cup and scored his one goal in eight starts in European Competitions.
