Goalkeeper

Born: Liverpool: 02-04-1992

Debut: v Nil

6ft 5ins, 13st 13lb (2012)

Jones was a product of the Liverpool Academy but did not make the grade and after a time at the Wigan Athletic Academy he joined the Leeds United Academy. He kept goal in the 2009-10 pre-season friendly at Forest Green, which was predominantly involving Juniors and Reserves in the Leeds team. Then, with Alan Martin on a season long loan to Accrington Stanley and short term loanee Blackburn Rovers’ Frank Fielding on duty for England Under-Twenty-One team, he was the only choice remaining as the substitute for Casper Ankergren, who was first choice keeper in the absence of the injured Shane Higgs. He was given a taste of the first team atmosphere when included by Simon Grayson as an unused substitute in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Second Round game with Darlington on 7th October 2009. He would have been known to few of the crowd as his experience had been restricted to Junior games with the occasional Reserve fixture. He was released by Leeds on 14th May 2010 at the end of his second year of his apprenticeship. On 5th July 2010 he went north of the border and joined Aberdeen, but after a short trial, he was released. On 27th July 2010 he joined Stockport County on trial, where he featured in a pre season friendly against Woodley FC, but was not taken on. He next had a trial with Blue Square North side Telford on 3rd September 2010 before he joined Rochdale, who had been newly promoted to League One, on 17th September 2010 on a non-contract basis. He was an unused substitute in the games against MK Dons, Plymouth Argyle, Yeovil Town and Exeter City, but was released by the club after the return of their deputy keeper in October 2010. He then joined Northwich Victoria in the Evo-Stik Premier League and played five games in the League and one in the League Challenge Cup before leaving near the end of the season. He joined United States Federation Club Richmond Kickers on 24th March 2011 and signed a three year contract. After playing a couple of Reserve team games he made his debut for Richmond Kickers at Los Angeles Blues on Sunday, 14th August 2011 and kept a cleansheet in a 0-0 draw. He was allowed to play in England during the American off-season, which runs from September to March. He signed on loan with North West Counties Premier League side Bacup Borough on 12th January 2012. He made his debut on 21st January 2012 in a 0-1 defeat at Stone Dominoes. By the end of the season he had played five League and four League Cup gasmes for Bacup.
