Little is known about Harry Houldershaw, who only played three games for Leeds United. It
was thought that he was a member of the Leeds United groundstaff in the War Years. His debut
was at Outside Left in the game with Halifax Town at The Shay in a 1-5 defeat in the 1942-43
Football League Northern Section (First Championship) and he also played in the next fixture
with Huddersfield Town in a 1-4 defeat at Leeds Road. His final game came in the 1943-44
Football League Northern Section (First Championship) game with Doncaster Rovers at Elland
Road in a 2-2 draw on 30th October 1943. "He was one of two brothers who joined the club as
amateurs before the War. He was believed to be from the Heckmondwike district, and first
appeared for Leeds in November 1937 in Yorkshire League. He continued with the Yorkshire
League team at the start of the 1939-40 season. After the war, he played with various other
Yorkshire League sides".(Information kindly supplied by Neil Roche). It is not thought that
Houldershaw played professionally in the Football League.
