After starting with New Tredegar, Harris signed for Third Division South Watford as an Outside Left in April 1933 but had to wait until the 1935-36 season before playing just three League games. That was to be the total he attained before the advent of the Second World War. He guested for Leeds United in the 1942-43 Football League Northern Section (Second Championship) when he played two consecutive games against Newcastle United. He played at Right back in the first game in a 1-3 home defeat and then in the second, in which he played at Left Back, Leeds surprisingly won 5-4 in the away game. He did play for the Hornets in the war years, making thirty-six appearances for them in 1939-40, but after that it was more spasmodic with six games in 1940-41, twenty in 1941-42 and then nothing until he played three times in 1945-46. After the war he continued mainly as an Outside Left but was converted into Full Back in his final two seasons before he left for Non-League football after the 1948-49 season. In all games he played ninety-four League games and scored six goals for the Hornets and also had eight games in the F.A. Cup. He later played with De Havilland Leavesden and Biggleswade Town. He died in 1997.
