Born in A Coruna in North-West Spain, he joined RC Deportivo de la Coruna Juniors from an early age and signed professional for them in July 2016.
He had captained the club in the Under-Sixteen and Under-Eighteen levels of the Galician Leagues. He was loaned to Silva SD in January 2017 and
returned six months later. On his return he joined Leeds United on a free transfer in July 2017 on a three year contract. He became a regular in the club's
Under-Twenty-Three Professional Development League team and made twenty starts in the 2017-18 season. Due to an injury crisis the two central defenders
of that team were brought into the First team squad for the fixture at Deepdale against Preston North End on 10th April 2018. His partner Paudie O'Connor,
who had made his League debut three days before in the home draw with Sunderland was again included in the starting eleven alongside Pontus Jansson in
central defence. The big Swede was injured after fifty-seven minutes and this saw Diaz make his debut and form the Leeds central defence for the remaining
thirty-three minutes alongside his Under-Twenty-Three collegue. He was included in the Leeds squad, along with several of his Under-Twenty-Three teammates,
for the post-season trip to Myanmar.
