Like his Leeds team-mate Luciano Becchio, he was born in Cordoba and took a similar football trail by signing for Spanish side Barcelona in 2003, where he played in the "B" team along with Lionel Massi. He scored once in fifty appearances before leaving in 2005 to join Espanyol. Once more he played in the "B" team and when he joined Swansea City on a free transfer in June 2008 he had scored once in sixty-five games. He did, however, gain valuable playing time with Spanish Second Division side Gimnastic de Tarragoa, where he made ten appearances without scoring in the 2007-08 season. The holder of an Italian passport, he did not require a work permit. An attacking Left-Back, Bessone soon impressed at the Liberty Stadium and became a first team regular, making fifteen League appearances in his first season. He scored his first goal on 20th November 2009, but injury problems restricted him to twenty-one games in his second season. At the end of the season he had made thirty-four starts and two games from the bench in the League, and had scored the one goal. He had also played a further three games in the League Cup and made one appearance, as a substitute in the F.A. Cup. He had played his part in Swansea going very close to gaining promotion to the EPL as they were pipped for sixth spot on the final day by Blackpool, who went on to win the play-offs. Bessone was offered new terms at the end of the season but he rejected them and chose instead to join Leeds United on a free transfer. He signed a three year contract. After playing in United's pre-season warm-up matches Bessone made his Leeds debut in the first match of the season in a 1-2 home defeat by Derby County on 7th August 2010. Two errors, at home to Millwall and at Barnsley, both led to goals and after the second he was replaced by Aidan White, who held the position for the next game at Doncaster Rovers. On 23rd September 2010 George McCartney was loaned from Sunderland to solve the left-back problems. This left Bessone out in the cold and on 31st January 2011 he was loaned to Charlton Athletic for the rest of the season with an option to buy him at the end of that time. He made thirteen League appearances at the Valley before the end of the season. It was announced on 12th May 2011 that the clubs were in negotions for his transfer, but it never eventuated. He returned to Leeds with two years still left on his contract, but although included in the squad, did not figure in any of the first team pre-season friendly games, even as a substitute. His contract was cancelled by mutual consent on 31st August 2011 which allowed him to rejoin Swansea City, on a two year contract after spending just fourteen months at Elland Road. Since returning to Swansea Bessone has been a fringe player. Sometimes on the bench and sometimes in the Reserves to get playing time. He made one appearance in the F.A. Cup, in the 1-2 defeat by Bolton Wanderers in 28th January 2012, and one substitute appearance in the EPL, in the eighty-sixth minute of a 3-0 home win over West Bromwich Albion on 17th September 2011.
