Not much is known about Turner other than according to the newspapers of that time. The Yorkshire Evening Post and the Soccer Sentinel indicated that he played for West Bromwich Albion play and a later programme described him as an inside left that played left back in the second game at Rochdale. (Courtesy Neil Roche) He played for United as a guest during the Second World War making appearances in two consecutive matches in the 1941-42 Football League Northern Section Second Championship, playing at Inside Left in the second game of the campaign in a 5-1 win over Lincoln City at Elland Road on 3rd January 1942 and getting one of the Leeds goals and he moved to outside right in the second half and the team seemed better balanced. He was at Left Back the following week for his farewell game as Leeds went down 0-2 at Rochdale. He did not play in the Football League after the War and there is no record of his having played in the West Bromwich Albion first team.
