Little is known about Bill Jones, other than he was on the books of Barnsley. He only played two games for Leeds United. He made his debut at Right Back in the third game in the 1942-43 Football League Northern Section (First Championship) away at Gateshead in a 1-3 loss. He also played in the reverse fixture the following weekend when he played at Left Back in a 1-2 defeat at Elland Road. He did also play one game for Grimsby Town as a guest in the 1941-42 season as well as playing for his home team, Barnsley, dring War-time. He had one game in the 1939-40 season, four in the 1940-41 season, five in 1941-42 and fourteen in 1942-43. It is not thought that Jones played professionally in the Football League.
